david o learythe more i think about our downfall i really think david oleary
has been spared alot of blame,at the time when we were riding the crest of a wave, nobody shouted stop,i wonder if ridsdale had been strong
enough to refuse to sancton deals for fowler, keane seth johnson would
we have avoided our downfall,
olearys book caused untold damage, it was pure greed
i still feel the team that got relegated from premier league
was a top 8 side,i know oleary was gone by then but the damage had been done

I dont think it was all O'Learys fault, like, but he should have taken a bit of the blame. After all he was in a position where he could buy who ever he wanted but it was risdale who should have said no to him. I always got the impression though that O'Leary was a bit of a puppet, just doing what he was told to keep the board happy. maybe Im wrong.
I havent read the book.

Meh...they were all a bunch of c*nts and crooks - those running the club at the time. Best not to dwell! I dont think you can blame O'leary for spending money though.

Been done to death really, but any manager will spend money if given the chance, the blame stops with ridsdale and the rest of the useless board at the time....

well said could'nt agree with you more. we all no it hurt every leeds fan like hell.what happend i.e money that was spent on some cracking players and some very dodgy one's. and to top it off going down 2 divisions aswell. But we are like 1 big family being leeds supporters. Now lets get our full support behind the squad as am sure we all will and get prometed. Marching on together

I seriously doubt DOL was given any responsibilities when it came to money... I would expect it was DOL gave the directors the list of the players he wanted and then they would deal with the money and the wages side of it...
What i don't understand is how we were at one point challenging for europe and then suddenly a relagation battle...

I don't know, if O'Leary was told he could buy whoever then as far as he's concerned he can, how's he to know that there was no money, unless he knew it was all being gambled on finishing in the then top 3 again. I'm fed up of treading back over ifs and buts, it genuinely upsets me. We are where we are now and we've got to get out. I just wish the people who are responsible were held to account, and not let go chair another team! (No matter how much I dislike Cardiff!)
