Cheltenham my viewArrived at ground around 14:20. Was quite impressed with the stadium, it was small but well kept and the playing surface looked good. There was a big following of Leeds fans both in thier own end and plenty more scattered around the ground.
I must mention the toilets, they were small but very clean. It was a pleasure to have a pliss in there. In fact I was so impressed I had several plisses in there
We started very well knocking the ball around and creating plenty of decent chances. Beckford should have scored twice in the first half, a half that we completely dominated, his first touch is terrible, ( he was trapping the ball further than i could kick it). Becchio was superb, worked hard tracking back at times, unlike Beckford who stands around with hands on hips when he loses the ball
Parker and Richardson were very good, attacking at every opportunity. The goal when it came was no surprise, a great cross, and a super header from Becchio was no more than we deserved. 1-0 at half time should have been at least 3-0.
Second half they came more into it without really creating anything. Beckford missed another golden chance with just the keeper to beat from 10 yards blasting the ball high and wide. He missed another, when he outstripped the defence, and with just the keeper to beat, he hit it into the side netting.
These misses gave Cheltenham some renewed hope, they brought on 2 big powerfulll strikers who started causing us a few problems, Casper pulled off two good saves to keep us in front. With a couple of minutes left Becchio forced his way through two defenders and from 8 yards out he forced thier keeper into a decent save low down to his right, pushing the ball out for a corner.
Beckford was subbed with ten minutes to go, which was no surprise, he should have had a hat trick, and possibly on a better day had 5. Special mention to Douglas, he does the simple things well, imo, he is the one player that binds the team together. Personally I would give him the captains arm band.
All in all a decent performance agains't an average team. But we need to start taking our chances, we will need to be scoring more than once agains't the better teams to get the three points.
Casper - 7
Richardson - 8
Parker - 7
Lubo - 7
Telfer - 7
Douglas - 8
Delph - 6
Kilkenny - 6
Howson - 6
Beckford - 5
Becchio - 9
