cheltenham home

lets admit before we start cheltenham are a piss poor side and were lucky to only get beat 2-0

we bossed the first half yet it stayed 0-0 how i will never know
they were poor in the middle and offered nothing up front but they packed there defence
i admit to a feeling starting to grow inside me that this could be another one of them games we could lose 1-0

second half we got the breakthrough we deserved yet they still offered next to nothing
the second goal settled everyone and an easy win followed. to be fair 4-0 would of been a better reflection of the game

Casper - 6 - One good save one on one late in first, one awful bit of handling in front of the kop. That's all he did.

Hughes - 6 - Steady until sub.
Rui - 6 - Comfortable but a couple of dodgy moments - recklessly dived in for their disallowed goal
Naylor - 8 - Solid as, attacks and win balls like none of our other centre halves.
Parker - 7 - Got forward well little defending to do.

Delph - 6 - V poor in first half when he gave the ball away a lot, improved in a more advanced and central role in the second.
Howson - 8 - Best game of season that iv seen. Lots of good runs into the box throughout (had 3 good chances in first half). Took goals well.
Douglas - 7 - Got forward well at right back and never threatened to mess up.
Robbo - 9 - Best player again. Great cross for first goal, some other great balls in, lots of skillful touches and hard work to boot.

Becchio - 6 - Some excellent hold up play but fell over too easy at times and he is the worst finisher one on one known to man.
Snodgrass - 6 -  Not really convincing as an out and out striker.

Subs:

Kilkenny - 7 - Moved ball well some quality passes. Nearly scored with a nice one two and volley in first still worry when he as to tackle .
Grella - No time but what an overhead kick!!
Trundle - 3 Touched ball 5 times gave it away each time time to go i think .
Del

With Howson i still believe his decision making at times could improve. He had a few chances in the first half to play the ball through to others but instead tried long shots and wasted good possesion.

That said i really like him and beleive he needs a bit of confidence and a good run in the team and offers something different from the other CM we have

Agree with your general comments WW, but I would have given Rui a 7, Kilkenny an 8 and Delph a 7.

Can't believe the amount of times we hit the post/bar in the first half - I think it was 5 with two cleared off the line! Could have easily been 7-0, however a win is a win, I don't care if it was 1-0 or 5-4.

Was sat in the south, douglas lifted the ball onto the crossbar and it may have been robbo who hit the post aswel once, a brilliant save down to the keepers right from a becchio header and numerous goal-line cleareances.

Their keeper  had a brilliant first half, obviously raised his game against us. As mentioned there was that brilliant save down to his right, one on one with becchio was saved with his foot as he went down and also made a brilliant save again from becchio. I honestly feel though that had it been beckford with those chances, 2/3 would have been converted.
