CasperI dare say I’m alone here but the abuse and criticism Casper gets is really starting to baffle me and . You’d think we were sticking the worst keeper in the world in nets the way people go on, he’s not even the worst keeper in this league. Yes alright he’s probably not as good as Higgs and his ability to come for crosses is questionable at best, but by christ he ain’t that bad. He’s now our back up keeper in league one – your not going to get Gordon banks down here folks. Fact is I’m struggling to think of too many GLARING errors Casper has made and the guy has saved us on more occasions than let us down in my opinion.
His shot stopping ability is as good as anything your gonna get in this league also.
I've read on forums people blaming him for the norwich goal on monday - which is absolute nonsense.

I totally agree with you!!! I know casper has made a few gaffs but in fairness what goalie hasnt. He is a great shotstopper, but his ability to deal with corners and set pieces needs a bit of work. Thats where Higgs is good and therefore we have not conceeded much from set pieces when Higgs has been in.
Its got to be hard for Casper to go from being the 1st choice week in week out, to being the second pick. He isnt the worst back up to have.
And with Higgs being injured Id rather have Casper than be with out him!!!

Great shot stopper, but he still flaps at everything in the air.
Having said that still a good 2nd keeper to have..

yes he does flap at everything, still doesnt warrant the stick he gets though - especially when you consider the hero worship someone like andy robinson gets who has done fuck all in a leeds shirt.

Thats a bit hash. I think last season robo did well as an impact sub. Id put the fact that he hasnt done that much this season down to injury and therefore lack of fitness and matches.
back to the topic though. Id rather have Casper than Lucas. could never understand why we hung on to him so long.

Pissed me off on Monday, when fans cheered when Casper caught the ball and jeered when he messed up, way to improve his confidence. He was getting shit for not coming for crosses, so then when he did and dropped one - but made a great recovery save, everybody got on his back again.
Just can't win.
Fact is he is probably one of the best keepers in the league and we're lucky to have both Casper and Higgs.

casperi wouldnt be caspers biggest fan but as somebody
already pointed out this division 3 football,
casper can be dodgy on crosses but think back to playoff final
v doncaster, he saved us 2 or 3 times 1st 15mins,
ok we still lost but casper couldnt be faulted,
all in all casper is a good back up for higgs

Agree Higgs is streets ahead, but also cannot my head around the abuse. Yes he's made gaffes and I think his own shakiness rubs off on the defenders a bit (defenders need to have full faith in their keeper), but, like Cork says, the only reason the Donny play-off wasn't even more of a disaster than the Watford one is cos of Caspars three one-on-one saves in the first 10 minutes.

Casper is better tham most teams number one in this league. He has served our club admirably over the years. Would prefer higgs, but Casper won't let us down, lets get behind him. Just remember, it could have been Lucas
